We were really pleased to achieve “Walkers are Welcome” accreditation back in 2015 for Cheddar. It puts us on the national map as a walker-friendly destination, and I helped out with setting out some self-guided walking routes for all abilites, which start from Cheddar and bring people back here to spend their money on refreshments, accommodation, and so on. I also look after the Cheddar Walking Facebook page and web site. We were the first Mendip location to achieve this status, although Frome has now also got it. Our launch took place opposite the National Trust shop, with local dignitaries and BBC radio personality Emma Britton cutting the ribbon.
