Emergency planning

Did you know that we have a community emergency plan for Cheddar? It’s a document we review every year on the Highways and Open Spaces Committee, to keep it up to date. It’s a guide for what to do in the immediate period after a major emergency, the key people to contact, spaces that can be used as emergency rest centres, what facilities they provide, details of our own parish resources that can be used, etc. Floods or weather events are seen as the most likely events to cause the plan to be put in to operation, but whatever happens, it’s reassuring to know we are geared up to be able to cope at least until external emergency resources arrive.
