A few years ago I was part of a team of My Cheddar members repainting our roadside heritage fingerposts. SCC Highways no longer have funding to look after them but they are an important part of the local countryside scene. This one on the Wedmore Road, now needs re-doing, and we also need to do the one at Nyland crossroads on the A371. We were ahead of the game, as since then SCC have created procedures and training material for those wanting to manage a local fingerpost restoration, including doing the inevitable health and safety risk assessment. Fellow councillor Clive Panchaud has now done the course so we are authorised to go ahead. So if you’d like to help out with some fingerpost restoration this year, please get in touch.
